In 2026, Vote To Stop The Dictatorship Nonsense.Issue Discussion Page

Some "leaders" think deception is the best policy, and so they fill the people's heads with lies. They are tricking people into building their house on shifting sand, which is a rotten thing to do.Haven't we always known that HONESTY is the best policy? For actual progress, one must be honest with everyone involved, including oneself.

This is a gun-owning country.

As Americans, we expect that we will all retain ownership of our guns, and I don't think we will ever surrender this permanent American right. But we should re-write the 2nd amendment, because carrying must sometimes be infringed, when arrested or jailed, when a child, when crazy, or when on other people's property.I don't want increased gun-carry restrictions at the federal level. But state and local governments should be able to make their own fair rules. Supreme court overreach has proven to be detrimental to public safety, so a modernized "2nd" amendment would help.We could also create a new, positive vision of "militia," as well-regulated, gun-carrying security volunteers, possibly under supervision of county sheriffs. The benefit being that to protect the public, we won't have to depend on the integrity of random and paranoid people carrying guns. It will save lots of headaches to clarify the constitution on these items.Bump stocks are terrible. DJT was right to executive-ban them, but a good old court struck it down, so a law is needed. Nobody should be able to fire 1000 shots (as in Las Vegas) before somebody can stop them. And murder really is a disease of the human mind. I have to believe that American adults could do better when teaching children about weapons and violence. We shouldn't joke about murdering people. We shouldn't emphasize all the occasions when we possibly might have to harm someone, no, we should emphasize respect of everyone's right to live. If there is anything sacred in this world, it's a human life, Junior, so the thought of endangering anyone should strike terror into your heart.

Abortion Compromise

I would encourage a friend to choose life, for obvious reasons. And whatever she decides, I would not stand in her way.In many jobs, there will be some aspect that the worker personally disagrees with, but if they want the job, they have to do what the boss says.I personally believe that pro-choice is the best policy, that a government should not try to control its citizens' bodies. But a majority of 1st-district voters vehemently disagree. So if I ever were their representative, I would vote to allow state laws to prevail. After 48 years of Roe v Wade, states' rights should be a compromise we can agree on. I would vote to defer to the states. And Nebraska would maintain a pro-life policy.I recommend to my state that they should never block medical intervention, which means don't punish doctors or close clinics. If you must punish someone, punish the poor girl afterward, or her rapist, but at least allow someone in danger to get the medical help that she needs. If there is a God who invented human reproduction, it makes little sense to think he plans every pregnancy, including wild errors such as ectopic pregnancy. That Creator planned for us to have the brains to solve our own problems, and to use medical technology and doctors to save our daughters, mothers, and future mothers; this must be part of God's will. As the famous story goes, "I sent you two boats and a helicopter!"Abortion is a serious issue, but it is also a no-win issue, an America-destroying issue. Please consider compromise, as it is necessary.

The Old Testament Also Says Rabbits Chew Their Cud, But They Don't.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people exist. They are born that way. And some religious people, adamantly, want nothing to do with them, which creates a need for compromise.Every person has human rights, and so we should defend their rights. But let us recognize that societal change takes time.First, freedom of religion requires that churches and parochial schools will choose their own policies. We can ask them to be inclusive, but they don't have to be.Public schools can set employee policy at the state or local level, because parents don't want federal control. But public schools must admit all students, and must treat them fairly. If people observe a reasonable dress code at work, a business should not discriminate. But violation of a dress code can create a serious problem for a business, so in such a case, the business should be allowed to handle it.I know these things will cause some hurt, and I'm sorry, but you're asking for trouble if you push, unwelcomed, into someone's business, school, or place of worship. Please, everyone, be fair, and try to get along.I suggest labeling restrooms "Ladies," and "Unisex." But remember, a decent person should let people use the restroom without an investigation. When it matters, sporting events should be segregated by sex, not gender. Let the ladies compete against ladies. And let the sports organizations write their own rules, with everyone's rights in mind. But you know, intersex people exist too. (Update: Someone pointed out I was off-base on using the term "hermaphrodite." Intersex is a correct term. See Cleveland Clinic for more information -https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/16324-intersex)
A significant number of people are physically different than just male or just female. I don't know if you'll find a reasonable Old-Testament answer about that... Better to go with the New one: Judge not, do not become angry, do not seek vengeance, but care about other people.

Speaking of religion...

I'm pretty peeved at the kind of people who can broadcast "Send me $1000 and God will pay you back much more!"And, "I'm bringing in angels from South America and Africa to stop the steal!" ...in 2020. Maybe those were some crappy angels, but either way, she's a rotten liar. There was no steal.I'm pretty sore at these noisemakers who have tricked faithful Christians into believing that the most notorious liar, traitor, and incorrigible criminal of our time is, somehow, the noble servant of Jesus who should cancel our rights, dismantle our democratic republic, and rule like a king.I was raised to be a very square Christian. I studied the Bible, and I still value Christian principles. Although my doubts have made me a freethinker, I'm still a way better Christian than the depraved, vengeful, child-bombing, child-starving, child-who-knows-whatting, sleazy, incompetent, and completely selfish New York con artist. "I hate my opponents," he just told millions who want to be tough like him."Love your enemies!" said Jesus.I know there are Christians, and even Republican Christians, who would at least secretly agree with me about the dictator. And I know there are many Christians who pray the dictator will just go away and stop hurting people. But works, deeds, actions are what rule this world, not prayers, not wishful thinking. We have to speak up. Even bring it up, instead of avoiding the unpleasant subject. Dare to have an argument. Denounce the traitor-worship nonsense. We have to take some risks, to beat back this evil garbage. So many of the destructive things he has done, he knew was likely to cause a mess, pain, disaster, and death, AND HE DID IT ANYWAY. He cheerfully endorsed the ethnic cleansing of Gaza. He literally chose to suddenly withhold food aid to starving children. He didn't have to. The psychopath chose to. Again and again. He is a terrorist, and he likes hurting people. Were it otherwise, he wouldn't threaten it and do it all the time. People of color, and people who denounce fascism, are living in fear in the land of the free, fear of the new secret police taking us away for secret torture in a secret overseas concentration camp. Or maybe just a power slam onto the concrete. The January 6 sedition was a terrorist attack, conjured up and aided by the head terrorist. He called it a day of love, and he pardoned the filth who gouged the eyes of police officers. To call the dictator a Christian is like a blasphemy against Christ. You were supposed to be fishers of men, but you have become repulsors of men. I think Jesus is not pleased.Every person has their own religion. Listen to church-goers, and it won't be long before you hear how they disagree with their pastor on something. Religion is beliefs. We all have beliefs, magical or not. And a belief in magic shouldn't give anyone extra rights. A disbelief in magic does not diminish one's rights.Freedom of religion is freedom of thought, and freedom of conscience. It involves freedom of speech, freedom of actions, and freedom of association. We all have these freedoms, until an evil regime decides to stomp on us. We hope we still have a government that protects personal freedoms, but signs of that are fading from view.So I will defend freedom of religion, as we all need it, and our lives may depend on it. But I don't have to accept your political BS that masquerades as Christianity, and you living in a world of destructive lies does not give you power over me.In the country where I grew up, Americans tolerated differences of opinion, differences of religion, of race, country of origin, lifestyle, orientation, you name it. We didn't seek and celebrate every excuse to hate and harm each other. We didn't like a leader who would send people overseas to negate their constitutional rights, or pull every dirty trick imaginable. It was a free country, where we valued justice not only for a few, but for everyone. We weren't ruled by billionaires. Let's do that again.

Crazy Donald, and his enablers, cannot be trusted.

Those of us who want a free country, including the good Republicans, must vote the Corrupticans out of our congress. And we go forward with hope that our votes will count in 2026. If the dictator gets his way, there likely won't be any counting in 2028.
